Project Life has taken over!

2 peas in a pod....

Hi everybody,

Last friday I hit the jackpot when I visited the Craftorij. That day the new collections of 7DotsStudio just arrived and oh my.....I LOVE THEM!!

I am especially in love the beautiful colors and designs of Nature Walk....so amazing. I totally went with the nature theme and created this layout based on the current challenge of the Sketchabilities Blog.

The pictures are of my cute, cute niece with her neighbour BFF. They were born a couple of weeks apart, so they're just like sisters, so cute :-)!

I started creating my borders by glueing loads of different pieces of fabric on top of one another. I added a piece of rope and some small wood pieces. I mixed Golden glass bead gel with Stampendous Bronzed & Teal mica flakes and spread that around my fabric borders.

I used Wendy Vecchi's gold embossing paste with a crafters workshop circle template. I added some mixed glass bead / mica flakes gel to it as well. With orange archival I stamped on the background.
I die-cut thin wood veneer branch leafs of Tim's new garden green die in a light and dark color and arranged them on my page. I added a black line along the edges to make them pop a little.

With a paper of the other collection of 7DotsStudio (Cold Country) I weaved a square pattern. On top of that I layered pieces of lace / burlap and a tag of the Nature Walk collection.

I die-cut some black & transparent clearly for art flowers with Tim's tattered florals die. I altered them with different embossing powders and enamels of Stampendous. I love how the flower turned out. I had this red heart in my stash and it totally pops with all the blues and browns.

I had a similar red heart left in white which I covered with Wendy's gold embossing paste and added different teal / bronze embossing powders and enamels. I created a circle with some wire and added it to my layout. I also created a wired heart, which I tuck under my picture.

I am totally happy with this layout. I think the title, which was a little quote on a sticker sheet in the collection works perfect with these pictures. I love the picture and how it pops of this page!

Finally, this was the sketch I based my layout on:

Thanks again for looking!

Shirley "Liltle Princess" Temple

Hi scrappy friends!

Last week the famous actress Shirly Temple passed away. As a little girl I remember seeing her in The Little Princess, which I loved! The Product Pick Palette of Prima Marketing this month consists of such sweet colors. I thought these matched perfectly with a photo of young Shirley.

I cut a bunch of stars form grungepaper with a Tim Holtz die, added layers of gesso, medium and distress gliter to make them shiny & glittery against the gorgous background paper of the Divine Collection. I randomly added new pink Prima say it in christals (love those!)

I die-cut a bunch of feathers from crinoline fabric, misted them with water to crinkle them and layered them in a wing-shape pattern.

Below the picture I cut some banners, distressed the edges and layered them on top of oneanother. I fussy cut a banner of another patterned paper of the Divine collection and added that on top.
Finishing the layout of with loads of prima flowers, a lightbulb, prima resis canvas pieces, some older Prima glass pebbles and a new prima paperclip.

Thank you for looking!

All You Need is Love....

Hi all!!

For the past couple of years I only blogged in Dutch...but more and more I've seen international visitors come to this blog, so from now on, I'll blog in English. I know all of my scrappy friends can perfectly understand this, so no need to translate it into Dutch :-).

The past few weeks have been extremely hectic with my regular work, teaching classes at De Craftorij and designing new classes for this Spring. But YAY, I finally had a few hours for myself to play. I came accross the latest My Mind's Eye challenge on their blog and I knew I wanted to play along. I have a huge stash of MME and it felt like ages since I created something with it.

So....I took a few papers of one of there older collections (Love me) and started creating. When I was going through my blogroll I also came across the current sketch challenge over at Scrapfriends and I thought I could combine the two challenges!

I saw this amazing photo on Pinterest a while back and ever since I just knew I wanted to scrap it. Just love the delicacy of the ballerina...so amazing!

I started with a doily background patterned paper from the collection which I whitewashed a bit with gesso. Adding strips of paper of the other sheets in this collection and whitewashing those as well.

I stamped around the background a bit and added red and black paint splatters. I also added modeling paste through a stencil on the top of my background.

I cut 5 hearts from grunge paper and I gave each a different textured look (modeling past, glass beads, textured paste, embossing powders, etc)  in white and one in red.

I tore the bottom of the patterned paper laced it up.

I cut a piece of chicken wire and painted it white to  add to my background. A piece of metal with text from Tim Holtz was painted red with alcohol ink and the text inside highlighted with white paint.

I finally just added a bunch of different embellishments to complement my layout.

This is the sketch I used:

I really love how this layout turned out! I hope you like it too!
