Hi all!!
For the past couple of years I only blogged in Dutch...but more and more I've seen international visitors come to this blog, so from now on, I'll blog in English. I know all of my scrappy friends can perfectly understand this, so no need to translate it into Dutch :-).
The past few weeks have been extremely hectic with my regular work, teaching classes at De Craftorij and designing new classes for this Spring. But YAY, I finally had a few hours for myself to play. I came accross the latest
My Mind's Eye challenge on their blog and I knew I wanted to play along. I have a huge stash of MME and it felt like ages since I created something with it.
So....I took a few papers of one of there older collections (Love me) and started creating. When I was going through my blogroll I also came across
the current sketch challenge over at Scrapfriends and I thought I could combine the two challenges!
I saw this amazing photo on Pinterest a while back and ever since I just knew I wanted to scrap it. Just love the delicacy of the ballerina...so amazing!
I started with a doily background patterned paper from the collection which I whitewashed a bit with gesso. Adding strips of paper of the other sheets in this collection and whitewashing those as well.
I stamped around the background a bit and added red and black paint splatters. I also added modeling paste through a stencil on the top of my background.
I cut 5 hearts from grunge paper and I gave each a different textured look (modeling past, glass beads, textured paste, embossing powders, etc) in white and one in red.
I tore the bottom of the patterned paper laced it up.
I cut a piece of chicken wire and painted it white to add to my background. A piece of metal with text from Tim Holtz was painted red with alcohol ink and the text inside highlighted with white paint.
I finally just added a bunch of different embellishments to complement my layout.
This is the sketch I used:
I really love how this layout turned out! I hope you like it too!
